- This was the site of the summer home of Sir Brenton Halliburton (1775-1860), chief justice of Nova Scotia from 1833-60.
- The place was renamed for his wife, Margaret Inglis, eldest daughter of Anglican bishop Charles Inglis. Earlier names were Reagh's Cove and Peter's Point for Peter Barnes, the first settler.
