Description From Owner:
- Settled in the 1790s by second-generation New England Planters. An early English name was Petite and later New Paradise Grant.
- In 1837 the name was changed to honour James Walton Nutting (1787-1870), a major landholder in this area. William Parker from Newport, RI, settled here in 1795.
