Description From Owner:
- The Indians called the place Kesokwedek 'the road runs over the hill.' For a time the school section and community were known as Fishers Grant.
- Around 1785 a hunting party from Truro discovered the upper river where they settled and William Fisher and 12 others requested a 5,500-acre land grant which they received in 1876.
