Description From Owner:
- First called Black Rock for a prominent black rock off the shore and later Summer Village, from which Summerville evolved.
- Land was granted here in 1783 to Capt. John Grant of the Black Watch Regiment so he could provide land for disbanded American Revolutionary War veterans.
