1741 HWY 242 |
Nova Scotia Tourism Region : Bay of Fundy & Annapolis Valley
Description From Owner:
- The place takes its name from the river, which was named for Louis Hébert, an apothecary who was part of the Du Gua de Monts expedition to Acadia in 1604.
- He was keenly interested in herb culture and farming and is deserving of the title, 'first Canadian farmer.'
- While at Port Royal he treated Mi'kmaw and French patients, ministering to Chief Membertou in his last illness. He settled in Quebec and died there in 1727. Michael Francklin was the first settler here in 1765.
