5 KEIZER DR |
Nova Scotia Tourism Region : Eastern Shore
Description From Owner:
- The Aboriginal people called the place Amagunchech, 'little breezy place.' Porters Lake was named for William Porter who, with five others, received a 1,650-acre grant here in 1784.
- Porter built a sawmill at the head of the lake before 1790. In 1828 the place was called Mary Ville. In 1897 gold was discovered at Thompson's Hill at nearby East Porters Lake.
