Nova Scotia Tourism Region : Yarmouth and Acadian Shores
- The Mi'kmaw name for the area was Malegeak, 'bent in different directions,' referring to the Yarmouth River.
- At the turn of the 19th century, ship builder and owner Capt. Anthony Landers built Hebron House near the junction of Hwys. 1 & 340 and the corner became known as Hebron Corner.
- A number of early settlers were from Hebron, CT. The place became called Hebron Corner, later Hebron. Hebron was a place in Palestine and the Hebrew word means 'friendship' or 'association.'
