started working as a receptionist for a major beauty supply company and noticed there was a dearth of hair-care products for Black people.

Beverly Mascoll (1942-2001) of Fall River started with $700, incorporated her own company and began selling products to Black people from the trunk of her car.

Mascoll Beauty Supply developed into a chain of retail outlets and also manufactured and distributed products across the country.

As the company grew so did her ability to contribute to community activism.

Her contributions to society earned her numerous awards and recognitions including being made a Member of the Order of Canada.
