Nova Scotia Tourism Region : South Shore
Description From Owner:
- The place takes its name from the harbour, named for Capt. Jonathan Clark of New England, credited as 'the first to discover the harbour.'
- Settlers came from Cape Cod and Nantucket in 1761. There have been efforts to change the name, starting in 1901 with a proposal for Port Minto.
- Others were for Clarkton, Clarksboro, Southport, Atlantic and Seaton. But the name Clark's Harbour survived and is one of very few Nova Scotia place names with official approval to use the apostrophe in its name.
