Description From Owner:
- The bridge and place were named in honour of Albert, Prince Consort, who married Queen Victoria in 1840.
- During the 1700s there was a French settlement here and by 1834 a ferry operated across the river and the place was called Mira Ferry.
- By 1855 a drawbridge had been built and by 1857 the name changed to Albert Place or Albert Bridge. Settlement began before 1803. A post office opened in 1863.
