Named because railway lines from Windsor, Truro and Dartmouth form a Junction here.
The name was given before the railway line to Dartmouth was built, when the main line was the railway to Truro and the Annapolis Valley Railway to Windsor was a branch line. Land was first granted here in 1765 to Joseph Scott.
