Nova Scotia Tourism Region : Yarmouth and Acadian Shores
Description From Owner:
- More-Rum Brook: This was a watering place for horses and two explanations are given for the quaint place name. One historian says that while the horses were drinking, travellers also used the excellent spring water-as a mixer for their rum.
- Another explanation is that when the road was being cut out, the rum being served to the workmen gave out when they reached this point.
- They refused to go beyond the brook until more rum was forthcoming. The surveyor in charge told them they could drink from the brook until more rum arrived, hence the name More-Rum Brook.
