- The Aboriginal people called the place Wipkoogmajokun, place for eels' and the community's first name, Eel Brook, is a rough translation.
- St. Anne du Ruiseau was the name of the Roman Catholic parish established here, and that name came into use during the 1950s.
- A replica of the first (1784) chapel in SW Nova Scotia is on Rocco Point Road at Ste-Anne-du-Ruisseau. Information on the construction techniques of St. Anne's First Chapel and related archaeological artifacts are on display.
- There is a nature walk and scenic view.
