- Hay Cove: Mi'kmaq called the place Galnotek. Catherine McNeil received the first land grant here in 1836.
- McNabs Cove: Settled in 1802. In 1812 settlers in the Red Islands area petitioned the government to move the First Nations Peoples then residing between Red Island and Soldiers Cove and give the land to D. B. McNab so he could build a mill.
