Description From Owner:
- In 1818, 112 Welsh settlers from Carmarthen and Cardiganshire arrived in Halifax. Sir James Kempt wanted them to settle in Shelburne but they preferred to settle further up the Roseway River.
- They called their settlement New Cambria, but their neighbours called it Welshtown and that name survived.
