61 LOWERLAHAVE RD |
Nova Scotia Tourism Region : South Shore
Description From Owner:
- The name derives from either a corruption of Ross Bay or for the profusion of wild roses in this area. An early name was Cross Roads, Lower LaHave. In 1794 the brig Falmouth, bound for Belfast, Ireland, anchored in the bay.
- The master, William Corran, who was accused of murdering a passenger, was landed and taken to Halifax. There he was tried by the Admiralty Court, found guilty and, only 49 days after his arrest at Rose Bay, was hanged in Point Pleasant Park.
