Nova Scotia Tourism Region : Eastern Shore
Description From Owner:
- The lake was named for its acoustic qualities. The area was settled in the early 1800s. Alexander Taylor had a 300-acre land grant on the NE side of the lake in 1818.
- Minesville: Henry Holland had a paper mill here to supply the Acadian Recorder newspaper. William Brooks discovered gold in 1861 and mining, which gave the community its name, was carried on into the early 1900s.
