Ashley Dwayne MacIsaac
Cape Breton's acclaimed fiddler Acclaimed and controversial fiddler Ashley Dwayne MacIsaac was born in Creignish in 1975.
He is known for his Celtic fusion, folk and rock music. In 2007 MacIsaac married Andrew Stokes.
In 1999 MacIsaac screamed obscenities at a New Year's rave in Halifax that resulted in cancellation of his concerts across Canada and in the same year declared bankruptcy.
He has long had a fascination with politics and in 2006 declared himself a candidate for leadership of Canada's Liberal Party, but later announced he was dropping out of the race.
He is one of Canada's most celebrated roots musicians and has sold well over 500,000 albums.
