Description From Owner:
  • First called Indian Brook because it was a Mi'kmaw resort. Saxon is a Scottish name, likely from Saxonia, an area around the Firth of Forth in Scotland.
  • In 1761 Capt. William Greenwood of VA settled here. During the Revolutionary War privateers carried off Greenwood's boat and cargo of fish. He chased them and recovered his property. In 1911 a forest fire swept down the E side of the river to Port Saxon.
  • With permission from 'Nova Scotia Place Names' David E. Scott 2015
