Description From Owner:
- At one time this area was called Nictaux, from the old English, meaning 'brook coming out of a hill.'
- Settlement began in the early 1800s and the name was chosen at a meeting of the residents in 1856. Mining for iron started here in the mid-1800s and carried on intermittently.
