Description From Owner:
- South West Margaree: Archibald Cameron of Barra, Scotland, came here from Antigonish in 1815.
- The first footbridge across the South West Branch of the Margaree River was built in 1830, followed soon after by an all-purpose bridge on the site of the present bridge.
- John and Angus McFarlane built the first gristmill in the area in 1833 and in 1859 John Gillis built a sawmill.
- Coady Settlement: Peter and Martin Coady came here from Tipperary, Ireland in 1831.
