Nova Scotia Tourism Region : Yarmouth and Acadian Shores
- Sometimes shown on maps as Central Woods Harbour. Rev. Samuel Wood received a land grant here in 1772 when the place was named Coquit.
- The Mi'kmaw name was Cockouquit for a species of duck. That name has more or less survived as nearby Cockerwit Channel.
- The Baptist Church, built in 1869 burned in 1874, the next church burned down in 1881 and the third burned in 1961.
