- The area was settled in the early 1800s and took its name from a beaver dam. The area was settled in the very early 1800s.
- In 1954 Beaverbank RCAF Station opened with its own school, recreation centre, gymnasium, church and hospital. The station closed 10 years later and the facilities were renovated to accommodate senior citizens.
