- Birch Plain...Norman McLeod received the first land grant here in 1835.
- Bakeapple Barren....In Inverness County in Cape Breton Highlands National Park. The place is named for Rubus chamaemorus, a bog-dwelling plant known as bakeberry or cloudberry.
- The plant has a white flower that is followed by a light amber-coloured berry. Cranberry Barren is nearby, named for the indigenous wild cranberries.
