Description From Owner:
- The Mi'kmaw name was Winaboogwech, 'swearing place,' or Wineboogwechk, 'crooked, ugly, flowing river.'
- There was a Mi'kmaw camping place at West Jeddore. In 1672 Nicholas Denys described the place as River of Theodore, which name gradually became corrupted to Jeddore.
- In 1727 Mi'kmaq killed several white men at nearby Liscomb and Jadore. In 1769 Rt. Hon. Earl of Egmond, who owned a large tract of land here advertised for settlers and the place became known as Egmont Harbour, Jeddore.
- Settlement was extensive in 1783 after the American Revolutionary War.
