  • Falkland: The place was first called Fergusson's Cove but was renamed for Lady Falkland, who laid the cornerstone of the first church built here in 1845.
  • Lady Falkland was the wife of Lucius Bentinck Cary, 10 Viscount of Falkland (1803-84), Governor of Nova Scotia 1840-46. She was the youngest daughter of William IV. William Glazebrook was settled here by 1788.
