Nova Scotia Tourism Region : Halifax Metro
Description From Owner:
- German settlers who came here in 1751 called the place Westermolt or Westernmold, western forest.' English people called it Dutch Village from the German word for German people, Deutsche.
- The place was also sometimes called Three Mile House because of an inn here by that name. The hill behind was called Geizer's Hill from a German family in the district.
- The name Fairview came from Fairview Cemetery in Halifax but was not applied officially to the settlement until sometime before 1841. Previously the village was included in an area known as North West Arm.
