Description From Owner:
- New Harris Settlement: Roderick McLeod had the first land grant here, in 1868.
- New Harris: First called Slois A Bhrochan. 'Slois' is Gaelic for 'place or countryside and ‘Brochan' is the Gaelic for gruel, very thin porridge. Scottish settlers changed the name to that of their former home in Scotland.
