Nova Scotia Tourism Region : Bay of Fundy & Annapolis Valley
Description From Owner:
- Originally a part of Vil Cheverie, named in the early 1700s for a Basque family named d'Etcheverry or d'Chevery.
- In 1783 the variation used was Chevery Bay and later Man of War's Land was applied to the entire shore because much of the land had been granted to disbanded soldiers.
- Brookville was used for a time but created problems because another place by that name existed. When a large shipment of wood was sent from here the name Selwood was adopted.
- Eventually it was named Bramber after a place of that name in Sussex, England. The Mi'kmaq called the adjacent point Naooktaboogwadik.
