Description From Owner:
- Mi'kmaq called the place Owbogegechk meaning 'dogwood.' Champlain named the cape Cape Poutrincourt after his friend who scaled the cliffs during an exploratory voyage.
- The cape was also called Cape Porcupine, locally referred to as Blow-Me-Down for fierce gusts of wind from the Sand SW.
- French Acadian settlers called the place Cap Baptiste from the Norman word 'baptisterie,' the place where sailors get baptized-by wild waves.
- Blow-Me-Down: An early name for Blomidon for fierce gusts of wind from the Sand SW.
