Nova Scotia Tourism Region : Eastern Shore
Description From Owner:
- The native name was Pelum ke egunech, 'fish spawning place'.
- The present name came after a Portuguese barque loaded with casks of wine wrecked here. By 1818 the family of Revolutionary War vet John Walters from NC was living here and had cleared 10 acres.
- With permission from 'Nova Scotia Place Names' David E. Scott 2015
