- The site was included in the Barrington Bay area first known as Menstugek. The French called the passage La Passage, 'The Passage.''
- The cove is named for Dr. Andrew Collins, a relative of the Liverpool Collins family who moved here in 1796. Skeats Cove just W of here was named for a settler who was here in 1790.
