- The Mi'kmaw name for the Chebogue area which includes Kelly Cove, was Utkubok, ‘a spring of water.'
- Another name was Ulsehookt, ‘little harbour.' Little Harbour was the name in use when the first settlers came here in the early 1700s. The place name is from Capt. James Kelly or Kelley who came from Manchester, MA, in 1765.
