- Named for Warren Hastings and birthplace of Sir Charles Tupper (1821-1915).
- At age 74, Tupper became the oldest Canadian prime minister for the shortest term, 68 days.
- CHARLES TUPPER: Oldest prime minister for the shortest time Sir Charles Tupper (1821-1915) from near Amherst was premier of Nova Scotia from 1864-67 and led the province into Confederation.
- Later he served as Canada's sixth prime minister for 68 days in 1896. At age 74 he was the oldest person to serve as prime minister, and his 68-day term was the shortest in Canadian history. He was a very strong proponent of Confederation.
