Description From Owner:
- Cape d'Or: Jean Sarcel de Prévert and François Grave Dupont explored the coastline of Acadia in 1603. They brought back to Champlain mineral specimens they had found on the shores of present-day Minas Basin.
- This and subsequent searches for minerals resulted in the name Cap des Mines.
- The name was later changed to Cap d'Or (Gold Cape) because the copper they had found was at first thought to be gold.
